Kitchen Towel Cake

Mom is taking Caroline to a wedding this weekend in Florida. I am gonna miss my girl and am jealous of the one on one time they will share! I am sure they will both have lots of fun!! I needed to get a gift and have been seeing the most adorable diaper cakes and some towel cakes. I decided to try a kitchen towel cake. I had fun trying to make it work. I really needed some more dish rags but...they are leaving tomorrow so I had to use what I had. The "cake" ended up only being 1 layer.

I used dish soap in the center and rolled the dish rags and put a clear hair band around them (the super tiny ones).

Then I put a rubber band around the dish soap and put the rags around it.
I wrapped the dish soap and rags with a few kitchen towels, ending with a fluffy one on the outside. I just folded the dish towel in half lengthwise and it left a little space around the top to fill in with shredded paper at the end. I just used a straight pin in the back to hold it in place until I could put the ribbon around. The hardest part is getting the dish towels tight.

After I was done I stuck some shredded paper on the top to cover the dish rags and stuck in some wooden spoons and 2 chip clips. I used a red pot holder in the back to add some color and tied it with a ribbon. I used some measuring spoons on the front as well.

Terrible picture but here it is packaged up and ready to go. I made a card too but forgot to take a picture.

The best part about this gift.....I got EVERYTHING at the dollar tree! Shouldn't admit that probably but in this day and age everyone needs to save a little (or a lot)! I think it turned out pretty cute for $15. I hope they like it.

Baby Update

Grant is getting so big! He had his 2 month check up today and weighed 11 pounds! He did great at the visit. He has been fussy tonight though from the shots. He is such a sweet boy. He is smiling and cooing a lot more now. He sleeps about 5-6 hours straight most nights now. He is starting to like Praise Baby and Baby Einstein DVD's. He loves to watch his siblings. He loves to sleep swaddled up TIGHT with the sleep sheep on. He LOVES his mommy and she loves him :)

An hour later....Finally, bedtime.Time to pick out rewards for positive behavior. I don't really think this reward thing is working since he still got the horse despite the above tantrum. He did have to wait until bedtime though.....It's just so hard to say no to this little darling. Oh, Grayson.....The king of fits!! We love you though. You are so darn cute even when your screaming and crying!!

Slow Cooker Cranberry Pork

I am joining in the Mckllinky blog hop with a post I did about some YUMMY porkloin! I need to take a picture next time I make this...so sorry no pics :( It is DELICIOUS though! I don't even like pork but I LOVE this!

Slow Cooker Cranberry Porkloin

1 Porkloin Roast
1 can whole berry cranberry sauce
1/3 cup French Dressing
1/2 onion sliced

Mix cranberry sauce, french dressing and onion together. Place Porkloin in a slow cooker and pour sauce over top. Cook on High about 7-8 hours or low for about 4hours.

I don't even like pork but this is AWESOME!

Happy Mother's Day

I love being a Mom!! Despite all the puke,poop,pee,tears,messes and whining! Having 2 toddlers and an infant is definitely a challenge but so worthwhile!! It is the biggest job in the world and I am proud to have 3 great kids. I have had a wonderful example. My Mom is the most caring,giving, thoughtful,considerate,Godly woman I know. I am so thankful to have her as my Mommy and hope I can be half as good to my kids. They are also so blessed to have her as their "mamaw"!! We love you Mom!!!

Candy House

While we were in DE for Easter, we made a candy house (the box said Bunny Hutch :). The kids did more eating than decorating!! They had fun nevertheless...See....

Maybe we'll try a gingerbread house for Christmas...

Homemade Wipes

What do these things make??

Homemade "clorox" wipes.


You just cut the paper towels (Use good ones,like Bounty or Viva) in half with a serrated or electric knife. It is a little hard to do this part! Then mix about 1/2-3/4 cup Pine-sol with 2 1?2 cups water and pour over the top. Let sit for a few hours and remove the cardboard in the middle. Then start pulling from the middle like any other wipes. Use in the kitchen or bathroom or wherever for disinfecting wipes. I use Folger's coffee "cans" that are the perfect size. You could also use any plastic tupperware type container that is roughly the same size. Saves money and they are quick and easy!
